About the Masjid

From a sealed vault to an open door.

Masjid Ezzeitouna is a Muslim place of worship in East Acton, London — a community space that strives to bring local people together and work for the betterment of the area.

The building was once a branch of NatWest Bank, then a firm of solicitors. When it stood empty, the prayers of a local Muslim brother and the East Acton community were answered. On 8 February 2011 the first adhan was called and the first jamaa prayer was performed here.

A group of skilled volunteers worked hard to refurbish the property. Breaking apart the building's old bank vault — a tall, very strong metal safe — was no easy task; many cutting tools broke before it gave way. By sheer hard work, and with the help of Allah, the job was completed.

On Thursday 5 December 2024, with the help of Allah, the masjid acquired the first and second floors, so all three floors of the building are now part of the masjid. Alhamdu lillāh.

May Allah reward all the brothers and others who have contributed to building this mosque, and accept it as sadaqah jāriyah.

The masjid is run by brothers and sisters who live locally. All are welcome to share their comments and suggestions at info@ezzeitouna.org.uk.
